The candidate for a neobladder would be someone who is very motivated to not have any external component to their urinary diversion. A neobladder is created out of small intestine, which we attach to the urethral stump. Therefore, you will urinate out the urethra just like you've done for your whole life. Candidates for the neobladder typically need to want a neobladder, need to be able to catheterize the neobladder if necessary, typically have to have good renal function, and have no history of prior radiation therapy to the pelvis.
