Mission

The Department of Urology at the University of California, Irvine seeks to provide its patients with the best in modern, technologically advanced, less invasive urological care, its residents with a progressive curriculum-based educational and training experience, and its faculty with the opportunity to excel clinically while teaching and pursuing research of both a basic and clinical nature.

U.S. News & World Report ranked UC Irvine’s Department of Urology 18th in the nation (#3 on the West Coast), among 5,189 hospitals that were reviewed in 2008. This is the 3rd year in a row that UC Irvine’s Department of Urology has ranked in the top 50 programs.

Patient Safety is “Job 1.”

UC Irvine has the lowest patient mortality rate of any Top 20 urology program in the United States as reported both in 2007 and 2008, according to data from U.S. News & World Report.

UC Irvine has more urologists named to America’s Best Doctors’ list than any hospital in Orange County. Our surgeons are world renown for their work in robotic and laparoscopic surgery of the kidney, bladder and prostate.
